Feist/Mastodon split 7 inch

In celebration of Record Store Day, Feist and Mastodon covered eachother…with song (aka Feistodon). Ms. Leslie and co. reinterpreted “Black Tongue”, produced by yours truly with the help of Mocky and Robbie Lackritz. Recorded in East L.A. proper.

The record is not dead, don’t let this internet/download craze thing fool ya’.

John Martyn Tribute

Recorded at least a couple summers ago and finally revealing itself to the public is a John Martyn tribute that I played on with Beck, a studio moment that passed by so quickly but as I can hear now left behind something quite beautiful. The album can be purchased here.

Photography

An amateur on all counts but here I share with you my tumblr page for photos. I make no claim of art, just trying to remember what’s happening around me so my grandkids can’t call me a liar.

Some of my photos will be in the bonus iTunes download of Feist’s new album METALS, coming October 4th as well as Charlotte Gainsbourg’s “Stage Whisper”, a live DVD/CD coming out November 8th featuring your narrator on keyboards.

Sex Bob-Omb! Instructional videos

I made these videos a couple years ago to help teach Alison Pill and Michael Cera how to play the drums and bass parts for ‘Sex Bob-Omb‘ as I played them on the recordings for the ‘Scott Pilgrim vs. The World‘ movie score and soundtrack.

Since Beck and I did these in one take, the parts are improvised and I could never actually re-learn what I played. I’m really impressed with all the other videos I’ve seen of people covering the songs but in case anyone needs help, here ya’ go!

What I mostly learned from these videos is what a horrible “drumming” face I have. I really shouldn’t be posting these, I look so confused and uncomfortable. But I must face the music. Bash away.

Thank you to director Edgar Wright for featuring these on his blog www.edgarwrighthere.com The soundtrack is available now from ABKCO Records.
